Building Better Workplaces: EEN Malta Hosts European Research on Leadership and Wellbeing

March 24, 2026, Tuesday News

Enterprise Europe Network Malta recently welcomed a delegation of staff from Hanze University of Applied Sciences as part of an ongoing European research initiative focused on the future of workplace wellbeing and leadership. Over the course of several days, the Maltese team facilitated a series of industrial visits and engagements designed to give the visiting researchers valuable, real-world insights into the local business landscape.

The visit forms part of the WOW Leadership research programme, an ambitious project that seeks to explore key themes shaping modern workplaces across Europe. These include wellbeing at work, effective leadership practices, lifelong learning, and the capacity for innovation within organisations. By examining these areas across different countries and sectors, the programme aims to identify patterns, challenges, and best practices that can support more sustainable and people-centered work environments.

During their time in Malta, the delegation visited a number of prominent local companies and organisations, including Seifert Systems Ltd, General Soft Drinks, and Bioarte, among others. These visits provided an opportunity for direct dialogue with business leaders and employees, offering firsthand perspectives on how organisations are adapting to evolving workforce needs and expectations.

Malta marks the first stop in a broader European research journey that will span ten countries. Across these locations, the research team aims to engage with approximately 200 stakeholders, including businesses, academic institutions, government bodies, and other organisations. This wide-ranging approach is intended to ensure that the findings reflect a diverse set of experiences and viewpoints.

The ultimate goal of the WOW Leadership programme is to develop a collaborative platform that empowers leaders to play a central role in improving workplace wellbeing. By bringing together knowledge, research, and practical insights, the platform will serve as a hub for sharing ideas, initiating targeted actions, and fostering continued research in this field. In doing so, it will also help establish a strong European network dedicated to advancing healthier, more innovative, and more supportive working environments for employees across the continent.
